Kylie Johnson

Kylie is an experienced psychologist in both Cambodia and Australia. During her 17 years of experience, she has enjoyed work in a variety of settings including private practice, safe shelters, non-government organisations, parole offices, a variety of field locations and prisons.

In Cambodia she has worked as a technical advisor/mentor for several non-government organisations that support vulnerable people. In addition to clinical work she has provided consultancy, supervision, training, mentoring and private therapy.

Applying a ‘Strength Based Approach’ (Solution Focused Brief Therapy), Kylie has experience with a wide range of psychological problems including mental health, sexual assault, sexual issues, trauma, anger management/violence, substance abuse and forensic issues. She has provided individual and group therapy, couple counselling, family therapy, assessments, training, consultancy and supervision. In addition, Kylie has extensive experience in critical incidents and the provision of psychological reports for court.

Variety of Psychology roles within Corrective Services NSW including – Snr Psychologist within Community Corrections; Generalist Psychologist & Risk Intervention Psychologist in prisons; Program Psychologist in Sex Offender Programs.

In Cambodia – Freelance Consultant, Technical Advisor/Mentor, Psychosocial Advisor, Trainer, Private Practitioner.

Consultant Psychologist, Khmer Vulnerability Aid Organisation – an organisation that supports Khmer/US post Prison deportees who have been returned to Cambodia.

Psychosocial Advisor, Transcultural Psychosocial Organisation – a Non-Government Mental Health provider, Cambodia.

Psychosocial Mentor, Prison Fellowship Cambodia – Non-Government Organisation supporting prisons, families of prisons and those being released to the community.

Psychosocial Mentor, Cambodian Women’s Crisis Centre – Non-Government Organisation supporting women and children who are survivors of sexual assault, violence and trafficking.
